A Metafic would be a story about stories, or fiction about fiction.
I suppose that a story about a writer, e.g., The World According to Garp, would be a meta-fic, but that's really a story about a writer.
For it to be a true metafic, I think it would have to be, "Once upon a time, there was a story..."

Isn't that what we're doing, for the most part? Writing stories about the Harry Potter story? I'd say that's as close as anyone can reasonably get to writing fiction about fiction. That said, I don't actually know where the name came from. Josh?
Metafiction on
Very fitting, isn't it?
