This made the whole family giggle...
Harry watched her pile mashed potatoes, roast beef, chicken legs, peas, sweet potatoes and mint humbugs, among many other things.
10 points to the house of your choice if you can spot the error.

Pile them where?
Other than missing an object, I can see little wrong with that sentence. It sounds like an ideal main course to me, although it does make the choice of dessert a little more complicated ;-)
BTW, I'm sure I recognise that: whence is it quoted?
there is something very out
there is something very out of place in terms of food.
error
Is it the awkward, unspecific phrasing you noticed....or is it the fact that sweet potatoes don't grow in Britain?
A possibility for the error
I am assuing the chicken legs contain bones, everything else is boneless. So, Ginny is introducing bones into that mix of soft foods. Num num... crunchy!
I don't think Harry would
I don't think Harry would pile mint humbugs on the other food
The sentence is incomplete.
- Harry watched her pile mashed potatoes, roast beef, chicken legs, peas, sweet potatoes and mint humbugs - Either the sentence is saying that she is piling those foods 'among many other things', or the 'many other things' are other foods that are also being piled onto the plate which is not mentioned.
For the sentence to be clear and/or complete, there needs to be some mention of the plate. "Harry watched her pile on her plate..." Or "...among many other things, on her plate."
Because they are a sweet
Because they are a sweet (candy)...
.... ten points to you !
They dont, but they are sold
They dont, but they are sold is supermarkets and corner shops.
You're right about the phrasing but but it was the mint humbug that was the strange choice.
Ah, that explains it
If I had known what a mint humbug was, maybe I would have spotted that. But then again, I did grow up watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They had a tendency to eat things like peperoni and ice cream pizza! So perhaps I wouldn't have batted an eye at the mint humbugs.

I was very disturbed by the mint humbugs ... I was all roast dinner and boiled lollies? huh ...
