Status Update

    Basically: stalled

    My life has taken a turn for the busy in the last few weeks, and it's going to last for at least another week. I've had almost no time to work on writing, aside from the short bits of The Contract we've posted (much of which were already written or which Josh originally drafted). Chapter 24 of MoO2 is in the beta process, but it's waiting for me to have time to do the first-round revisions. Chapter 25 is outlined but waiting on ch24.

    So, sadly, it may be a while before I manage to post a new chapter of MoO. On the plus side, I hope that once I do post ch24, I'll be in a good position to post regularly through the end of the story (circa ch29).

    Ah, the dreaded "real life"

    Ah, the dreaded "real life" rears it's misbegotten head. Such are the perils of being an adult I guess. Anyone else notice that when we were kids we didn't think about responsibilities being associated with being an adult? We were too busy waiting to grow up... oh the irony.

    On the bright side…

    …isn't it better to have work (which I fervently hope is paying you reasonably well ;-) which leaves you little time to write than to have plenty of the latter because you don't have the former?

    In a similar vein, it's better to be held up in your writing by something concrete rather than the dreaded "writer's block", or even simple distraction like I suffer from (although my modular origami Menger Sponge is coming along a treat ;-)

    I'd hardly be one to criticize - I haven't been able to update Veil of Shadows in almost six months. It's not that I don't want to, I just can't find the time to actually write.

    So.....when you say awhile you mean roughly how long?

    I'm new to this story, a friend just introduced me to it about 4 days ago, but I already read MoO1 and what you have of MoO2. I'm completely addicted and I can't wait for the next chapter. I found those last few chapters really emotionally moving and I can't wait to read what happens next. I know I probably sound like one of Lockhart's fans (by the way LOVED the age thing, poetic justice) but I really can't seem to help it.

    Hmm...

    Well, the next chapter is in early beta, so I'd guess that it might be posted in 2-3 weeks. Perhaps longer, given the holidays, or perhaps shorter for the same reason.

    Oh Good!!!

    I hate it when I start to really like a fan fic and then the author decides half way through a story (or chapter in some cases) that they're not going to finish it. Especially when it's a huge cliff hanger. So are you definitely going to finish the second book?

    It may take a while at this rate, but I'm very definitely going to finish the second book.

    …is there going to be a third book, and a fourth…and so on?

    Do you have an overall outline, and therefore an idea of how many there should be in total?

    I plan to write 7 novels and at least 2 shorter stories that take place after the main plot (in addition to a couple of out-takes along the way). I have fairly complete outlines for books 3 and 4. From there, my plans get less detailed with each book, but I have major plot points for all of them, and I know how the story will end. Whether or not I live long enough to write them all, however, is a different question. It's also possible that I'll lose interest before finishing, I guess. Right now I don't feel like I'm losing interest at all, but I can't predict the future.

    How long is it going to be till the next chapter? Not trying to harass anyone, just curious...
    Wow I sound like one of those kids doing the whole, "Are we there yet? Are we there yet?"thing. lol

    That'd be pretty awesome!!! I know it's a busy time of year though and you might not be able to get to it... still I'm pretty excited!
