Top three reasons...

Top three reasons why I like Metafic:
    1. People here aren't stupid.
    2. People here don't assume that I'm stupid.
    3. When I post a comment like this, a reasonable portion of people who read it will know what I mean. Which is not quite the same as #1.

    Ahh. I feel better now.

    Surely you jest . . .

Whoa, are you sure you can get away with that set of views? You are, after all, the king of mindless angst. Why should we take your word for it? Hmmm?

Safe to assume number 3 is

Safe to assume number 3 is in reference to certain comments pertaining to the recently released of a certain chapter 23 which was rather excellent though had me tearing again for like the third chapter in a row...? If not then I'm in the dark.

Why do you think any updates

Why do you think any updates of Sins will only be posted here?

    Oh wait,you know why.

    Not Stupid.

“Right. Not stupid. We noted that down.”

I too am assuming this relates to comments posted in reviews on chapter 23.

    Shiny, happy people

Sovran: Now you're scratch your head. I left a review at SIYE and not PS this time. I leave a review at PS when I see a really good story, or chapter, and it gets, like what? A grand total of 4 reviews? I've never figure out why so few reviews are posted at PS. Maybe the SIYE readership demographic is younger, who knows.

Anyway... after looking at the reviews for "Consequences," I did an infamous eye roll and left the following review:

    Quote:

The past several chapters have been awful and a summary of most reviews for this latest chapter can be summarized as:"Poor Ginny, when is all this going to end; When is Harry coming back; Its so hard to read this; Why do you have to torture her so."

Successful authors can pull the reader into the story, make them feel what the character is feeling. Based on some of the comments below Sovran has succeeded magnificantly. The readers' dismay and anger at the author for dragging out this dismal situation reflects some of what GINNY is feeling and suffering. In line with canon concepts for magic, Ginny can't make her trouble go away with the swish of a wand. For Ginny, and us dear readers, this nighmare [sic] seems unending. Ginny knows dawn will come, but the night keeps getting darker.

    Good job, Sovran!

I mean really! If someone is reading a story and not empathising (sp?) with the characters perhaps they ought to stick to documentaries on The Learning Channel or something. Sheesh!

    Yes, this blog entry relates

Yes, this blog entry relates to the feedback on chapter 23. I honestly don't mind if people don't like the chapter. It's not very likable, really, and anyone who finishes it feeling shiny and happy has problems of their own. What bothers me is when a reader assumes that I'm doing something for no reason. In this chapter, both the angst level and Hermione's petrification emerged as topics that some readers did not bother thinking about. Instead they apparently assumed that I was writing angst because it's fun and that I was parroting canon because it's easy. I've worked hard not to parrot canon in meaningful ways without a clear reason, but I suppose that not everyone recognizes that. Hence my little rant.

Thanks to everyone here for your supportive comments and reviews. It's nice to know that some people are paying attention and using their heads for more than hat-racks. And, yes, this is the last of the truly angsty chapters.

    The angst is just right.

Hmm...Let's see. I believe I said something like "You do love to torture your readers." With SIYE being down at the moment, I can't check to verify that I actually said something encouraging after that, but I am sure I did. It's rare for the written word to get a genuine emotional response from me, but this series has been doing that on a regular basis. I haven't had such an emotional response to any prose since Chewbacca died. R.A. Salvatore killed off Chewbacca in Vector Prime for the same reason JKR petrified Hermione. To show the reader that the main characters did not reside in a 'magic bubble' that kept them safe. Of course, you already accomplished that by petrifying Harry, but you petrified Hermione for a different reason. You are now bludgeoning Ginny about the head and shoulders with a reminder that ALL of her actions have consequences. Neville's continued distance from her did that on a much smaller scale, but now the point has been driven home with a very large hammer.

I am glad to see that this is the last truly angsty chapter. I can't wait for Harry's awakening. I wonder if Molly will be present for their undoubtedly enthusiastic reunion. I can imagine a very passionate kiss. And I can imagine the reaction of Molly in 'mother mode'. Such a thing could cause her to backslide in her acceptance of Harry and Ginny's sleeping arrangements. They are, after all, a bit young.

I didn't mean for this post to turn into the review I should have posted for the chapter, but there you are.

    I remain blissfully ignorant

I remain blissfully ignorant not having time to read much fic lately and certainly not stay up to date with such an intricate story. But I think I know what you mean. I had some real shockers on some of the last chapters of RL where honestly - They. Just. Didn't. Get. It.

There's something really annoying about a long winded review where the reviewer tells you all about how something is soooooooo wrong and all the stuff you messed up and you are going "but ... did you not see this really relevant thing *here*?" And you are left just head scratching at their complete misinterpretation of a character, event or action.

I flicked through the chapter here on a whim the other day and it didn't seem off to me. Of course I don't think I've read any of it for ten chapters or so. It's on my list ... my really long list ...

Stupidity? - None of that Here!

You are not stupid. Your writing is not stupid. Personally, I think you and your works are brilliant. I don't always review every chapter but you can bet that I look forward to each and every one of them. Your writing makes me laugh and cry and feel all sorts of things that lesser authors could only hope to make their readers feel. Don't you dare feel bad because some idiot doesn't get the story they way that the rest of us do. They are most likely jealous that they will never be anywhere close to as talented an author as you.

    You Rock !!!

You reminded me of Order of the Phoenix when Harry is thinking he's vold's new weapon. You were channeling miss Weasley in this post, yes you were.
