I love those fics where the writer praises their beta and then you get to laugh at the howlers that said wonderful beta has let through.
Here's an example from http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4212747/1/Just_One_of_the_Guys
'The two headed off as Ginny waved her goodbyes to the shocked filth years'
Any others?

Well, there's plenty of
Well, there's plenty of those, but I've noticed something else that's fun.
Go to Google, and paste these exact keywords into the search (quotes included): beta "grammer" site:www.fanfiction.net
You'll see hundreds of beta profiles on FF.net, explaining how good they are with spelling and 'grammer.'
Statements like this one are quite fun once you get over the initial shock: "I'm a fantastic speller, and I'm a grammer freak."
I'm a fantastic speller, and I'm a grammer freak
Perhaps they have an interest in weights and measures, or even a fan of the town
Don't criticise before you know the whole story ;)
Yep, there are more than you
Yep, there are more than you can shake a stick at :)
It has to be said
that everyone makes mistakes (as the Dalek said climbing off the dustbin)
but people really shouldn't write checks that their backsides can't cash.
I know for a fact that i make many mistakes when i type (brain faster than fingers), not only does a read through help, but i always print the page off and then edit by pen (and often spot areas tat need a rewrite) and fix what i see. Then it's off to a beta//script editor and they spot all the other mistakes (or as i tell them unavoidable errors) that crop up in my work
My beta for Snape's Second
My beta for Snape's Second Chance doesn't catch everything. I usually read things over when she hands me back a chapter and sometimes I find some typo I made that her and I didn't catch. Nobody is perfect. Perfection is something that we strive for but will never achieve ( I have to remind myself of that :P ).
