So, I am testing out the blog feature on the website, and decided a good first point would be to update people on the progress of Curse Breakers. I am about 20% complete with Chapter 8, which means that I have written 2000 words for the chapter out of 10000.
My goal is to have the chapter finished by the end of September, but I am unsure if that is a realistic goal as I have had no time to write recently and little desire to work on Curse Breakers. So at the moment, I just whittle away at it and have made it my goal to spend at least 30 minutes a day writing new material. I'll keep you updated.

Never mind that people keep
Never mind that people keep giving you stuff to beta, right?
True, I cannot deny that
True, I cannot deny that Beta work does slow down my writing, but before I started writing Curse Breakers I took a serious look at my time and what I do and how that would fit in with my life. The truth of the matter is that I write fanfiction for fun. It is a hobby and I do it so that I am writing. In the end, although I am grateful for the people who follow the story and I am always overjoyed at the reviews I get, I am writing for myself and only for myself.
My beta work is, in my mind, a commitment I have made to another person. As such, I will always put that ahead of my own fanfiction, just as I will put my friends and job before beta work, and my obligations to my family before my job.
I do it this way so that I avoid feeling guilty about the constraints I have on my time and life and it also allows me to have free time as well. But then we all must find our own coping mechanisms.
- A good novel is an indivisible sum; every scene, sequence and passage of a good novel has to involve, contribute to and advance all three of its major attributes: theme, plot, characterization.
