Is canon Ginny a hitter? I would say normally no, but... Maybe we should ask Zacharias Smith?
I have written some H/G scenes where Harry accidently pushes Ginny past her emotional limit, and she snaps without thinking. This story is one of them. I pondered having her hex Harry here, but I couldn't see her do that. Not to Harry anyway. I can't see her beating on his chest; that is a bit ineffectual, something Hermione might do. :-) A slap is an intense action with a sharp effect that doesn't require repetition. I tried to imply her remorse, and excuse, for slapping him as she told about her boggart - dead Harry - and seeing her worst fear play out before the front entrance of Hogwarts. I guess I didn't do that very well. Good thing I don't write for a living!
In my fanfics I have only two scenes where Ginny actually hexes Harry. One in early on in The Sorcerer's Apprentice; there will be a second event, too. They are reactionary actions, not deliberate. Also, beyond being a slightly starstruck fangirl, she doesn't really know Harry in Sorcerer's Apprentice so she has less personal restraint.
Arrgghhh. As I wrote this response I remember Parakletos had Ginny slap Harry in "A Greater Love." Maybe that event, in that circumstance, resonated with me.

I like it fairly well, but
I like it fairly well, but is Ginny a hitter? If she is, can she be the right one for Harry?
Is Ginny a hitter?
Not sure that she is, but she isn't averse to hexing people so its possible.
I think this story shows how hard it is to get the balance right of thier first meeting and in particular Ginny seeing Harry dead.
Good job :)
Ginny beyond the emotional edge...
